Some of Melbourne’s favourite restaurants and cafes now all star in one recipe book.
Setting aside professional rivalries, south-east Melbourne restaurateurs and chefs have come together with Rotary to raise money for local charity. The recipe book will raise over $100,000 for charities that include Sacred Heart Mission, FareShare, Inclusion Melbourne, PolioPlus, Prahran Mission, RecLink and Very Special Kids.
The brainchild of the Rotary Club of St Kilda, Relish 2009 raised over $36,000 last year. Project manager, Julia Topliss knew she was onto a winner and as a result invited other Rotary clubs to join the project for Relish 2010. This edition of Relish has increased its borders to include cafes and restaurants from South Melbourne, St Kilda, Elwood, Prahran, South Yarra, Armadale, Toorak and Malvern.
If you are up for a stint in the kitchen, Relish 2010 offers a range of exciting recipes, including French Toast with Caramelised Apple from Yellow Door in Albert Park; Quail with Chorizo Sausage from Orange in Prahran; Paella from Barca in Armadale and White Chocolate, Macadamia and Butterscotch Tart from Donovans in St Kilda.
Relish 2010 is as much a visual feast as well as an eclectic mix of interesting recipes with imagery produced by food & travel photographer Greg Elms. And for those of us too lazy to tackle the kitchen, Relish 2010 also contains a handy location guide providing you with a great reference to your next meal out.
Relish 2010 is a celebration of Melbourne’s fantastic food culture, showcasing some of our best established restaurants, hidden local gems and new kids on the block - all for a great cause.
Relish 2010 will make the ideal Christmas gift for anyone passionate about food and who believes in supporting their local community.
Relish 2010 will be released on October 26th (RRP $15.00). Purchases can be made through the website www.relishrecipes.com.au, from many of the participating restaurants & cafes, and select book stores.
